Hilmo has been a staff member at FOI since October, 1995

• B.S. from from the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia in 1987
• Pittsburgh Institute of Technology’s Prosthetic Program, 1998
• Prosthetic Certificate Program at the Northwestern University Medical School, 2000.

• Prosthetic Certification (BOC), 1998
• Ohio Licensed Prosthetist, 2001
• American Board Certified in Prosthetics, 2003

Hilmo’s thoughts…

I came to Dayton in 1994 after an injury suffered in the Bosnian war.

The team of doctors at Grandview Hospital could not save my leg but they did save my life.

Paul and Fidelity Orthopedic provided my first prosthesis. They worked with me and my physical therapists at Grandview.

Because of this “team support”, I received the tool that started me walking into my new life and gave me the chance to start my new career.

I wanted to become a prosthetist who would not only help amputees professionally, but one who would share experiences of wearing a prosthesis with them. My dream came true after a few years of hard work
and studying.

It’s been a joy and privilege to be able to provide the care and support to the patients who have wanted me to share my experience as an amputee and allowed me to provide the professional care as the clinician.

I enjoy every moment of being able to do what I do. I hope I will be able to share this with my patients for a long time.
